Billy Farha ran 7 km around the park, and raised over £12,000 in the process. The money will be given to the °×С½ãÂÛ̳ Cancer Institute, which is dedicated to fighting cancer and contains the largest concentration of biomedical researchers in Europe.
This donation is the latest in a long line of philanthropy from the Farha family. Billy's father, George, is a °×С½ãÂÛ̳ alumnus (BEng Chemical Engineering 1991), and a generous supporter of the university through the °×С½ãÂÛ̳U George Farha Café Bar and °×С½ãÂÛ̳'s scholarship programme.
Speaking at an event to celebrate his donation, Billy said: "It's nice to help raise money. I just wanted to do something to improve the lives of children."
A plaque has been placed in the °×С½ãÂÛ̳U George Farha Café Bar to commemorate Billy's gift.
