StARs are the elected voice of students, working closely with both °×С½ãÂÛ̳ staff and °×С½ãÂÛ̳U to bridge the gap between students and faculty in their department.

Amongst those presenting the award was Luke Durigan, °×С½ãÂÛ̳U Education & Campaigns Officer who said: "Our student academic representatives play an important role in voicing the concerns of °×С½ãÂÛ̳ students and they ensure that °×С½ãÂÛ̳ takes into account the needs of students in its decision-making.Ìý This year we have been in contact with over five hundred StARs across °×С½ãÂÛ̳ and we have had more StARs trained and gaining certificates for their contributions than ever before."

Dr Ruth Siddal, °×С½ãÂÛ̳ Dean of Students (Welfare), explained: "The world of higher education is currently undergoing great changes. These changes will create challenges for both students and universities to overcome and °×С½ãÂÛ̳ will not be exempt from this. In this new environment the role of StARs will become increasingly important and I would strongly encourage all students to engage in their education whilst at °×С½ãÂÛ̳ and also to have the opportunity to collaborate with academic and administrative staff on areas including academic progression and degree programme design."
