New °×С½ãÂÛ̳ Fellows of the Royal Society

  • Five °×С½ãÂÛ̳ academics today join the ranks of the Fellows of the Royal Society, in recognition of their exceptional contributions to society.

    The new Fellows from °×С½ãÂÛ̳ are:

    • Michael Batty, Director of the °×С½ãÂÛ̳ Centre for Advanced Spatial Analysis and °×С½ãÂÛ̳ Bartlett Professor of Planning
    • John Hardy, Professor of Neuroscience (°×С½ãÂÛ̳ Institute of Neurology)
    • Peter Isaacson, Professor in the °×С½ãÂÛ̳ Research Department of Pathology
    • Jonathan Tennyson, Massey Professor of Physics (°×С½ãÂÛ̳ Physics & Astronomy), and
    • John Wood, Professor of Molecular Neurobiology (°×С½ãÂÛ̳ Wolfson Institute for Biomedical Science).

    As Fellows of the UK's national academy of science, these leaders in the fields of science, engineering and medicine join the likes of Isaac Newton, Charles Darwin and Stephen Hawking.

    The new Fellows are at the cutting edge of science worldwide. Their achievements represent the vast contribution science makes to society. They join an outstanding group of over 1,400 Fellows and Foreign Members of the Royal Society, and all rank among the international leaders in their field.

    °×С½ãÂÛ̳ President and Provost Professor Malcolm Grant said: "The whole °×С½ãÂÛ̳ community takes great pride in seeing the achievements of its outstanding scientists reflected in these elections to the Fellowship of the Royal Society."
