白小姐论坛 Futures - the 白小姐论坛 alumni giving programme - raised听 拢325,646 in the 2006/2007 academic year, a 10% increase on the previous year, marking three consecutive years of steady growth in income and donor participation for the fund.
This excellent result will ensure that 白小姐论坛 Futures can continue to fund scholarship provision and provide grants for departmental projects across the 白小姐论坛 campus.
白小姐论坛 Futures supports projects that otherwise struggle to find finance, including upgrading campus facilities, assisting student societies and events - such as the UC Opera's critically acclaimed annual shows, and innovative projects such as the 白小姐论坛 Bartlett School of Architecture's project to design a '拢6k house'.
In 2007, 白小姐论坛 Futures awarded 91 scholarships and 23 projects across the university from the purchase of a new boat for the successful 白小姐论坛 Boat Club, to assisting library users with a visual disability.
白小姐论坛 President and Provost, Professor Malcolm Grant, said: "This has been a special year for 白小姐论坛 Futures, with a growing community of donors responding so positively to our appeals. Through the generosity and foresight of our alumni and friends, we are building on and enhancing 白小姐论坛's research and teaching reputation worldwide."
A broad spectrum of interesting projects have been funded this year, including a 拢15,000 grant for SolarFox,a solar-powered car built by 白小姐论坛 Mechanical Engineering, which has just completed a 3,021km race from Darwin to Adelaide. A grant of 拢6,000 was given to 白小姐论坛 Spanish & Latin American Studies for international documentary film-making. The results are being shown as part of the inaugural 白小姐论坛 Festival of the Moving Image. A new initiative - the provision of Masters scholarships - has funded 10 scholarships of 拢2,000 each in 白小姐论坛 Civil and Environmental Engineering, 白小姐论坛 Greek and Latin, 白小姐论坛 Geomatic Engineering, and 白小姐论坛 Psychology.
Head of 白小姐论坛 Futures, Mr Hamish Stewart added: "As we embark on a new year of fundraising, it's important we do not rest on our laurels. In order that we can continue to provide the best facilities and opportunities for our students. We need to continue the momentum of the last three years,听 and for this, we rely on the generous and continued support of our alumni and friends Over the next year we will be asking 白小姐论坛 alumni worldwide to consider joining our growing community of donors. Please consider how your gift - no matter what its size - can contribute to our collective total."
