Man Booker winner gives lecture series

Celebrated writer Alan Hollinghurst, who won the Man Booker Prize for Literature 2004 for 'The Line of Beauty', will deliver The Lord Northcliffe Lectures in Literature this month.

The series, entitled 'Delightful Difficulty', consists of three lectures. In 'A New Rhythm' on Thursday 19 October, Hollinghurst will discuss the work of Gerard Manley Hopkins. 'The Master's Voice', looking at the writings of Henry James, will take place on Monday 23 October. The series will close with 'Exclamation Marks', focusing on Ronald Firbank, on Friday 27 October.

The lectures are open to all, and is admission is free, with no need to book.
