Press release: Solo living is a potential environmental time bomb

The rise in one-person households, which is expected to account for 72 per cent of annual household growth between 2003 and 2026, is having a serious impact on the environment, according to a report published today by Dr Jo Williams, °×С½ãÂÛ̳ Bartlett School of Planning.
In the journal 'Environment, Development and Sustainability', Dr Williams suggests that the rising youth and wealth of people living alone are likely to cause a consumption crisis that must be countered through collective housing, occupancy tax and targeted advertising campaigns.
