Virtual reality open day

°×С½ãÂÛ̳'s Department of Geomatic Engineering will host open days on 17 and 18 May 2005 to demonstrate the latest developments in virtual reality systems.

StereoWorks 3D projector system

Open to °×С½ãÂÛ̳ staff, students and the public, the academic roadshow will be presented by Virtalis, one of the leading suppliers of virtual reality systems in the UK. During the two-day event, Virtalis representatives will introduce and demonstrate the capabilities of the latest equipment.

Advanced 3D visualisation and virtual reality technology will be featured, including a 3D projector system, haptic devices (devices which allow a user to interact with a computer by receiving tactile feedback), 3D eyeware and advanced interactive visualisations.

°×С½ãÂÛ̳'s Geomatic Systems Manager Mr Dietmar Backes (Geomatic Engineering) is organising the event. He said: "This is a great opportunity to discover how the latest technology can aid communication, manipulation and interpretation of 3D data sets and to find out about the latest technological developments in the field of virtual reality."
